I've been a Performance Driving instructor since 1999. I started learning about Performance driving (not racing - learning how to control "street" cars at high speeds) when I joined the Oregon Porsche Club of America (OregonPCA). They have "Track" days where people can learn to properly handle these fantastic machines. I highly encourage everyone to join their local car club (almost every make has a club) - it's a great social and technical opportunity, and a chance to take your car onto a real racetrack (like PIR/Portland Int'l Raceway).
I no longer have my Porsche, but I was given the opportunity to instruct for MotorSport Lab. They travel around the west coast and east coast to let people get the experience of driving SuperCars, like Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. on a modified auto-cross course (not the Racetrack, because that would be crazy - these cars are really fast, even on these courses). They move their cars around for their events, and use local driving instructors to augment their staff - this is how I got to join in the fun. My specialty is All-Wheel drive, so I spent most of my time in the Lamborghini Gallardo. Enjoy the Pics! -Steve
